​​In recent few years, there has been a trend among schools, especially high schools, towards removing subjects such as painting and drawings from the curriculum, considering that such subjects do not have a direct relation with students' future career development or further education. Even though painting and drawing course cannot bring visible and practical value, such subject may bring countless benefits to students.

The current education system is mostly exam-oriented, which lays too much emphasis on students academic achievement. As a consequence, students are struggling against mountains of quiz, tests, papers or final exams. Such an approach does lay a solid foundation for students to become professionals in the future career development. Yet they need an outlet to release their negative emotions or to express their creative ideas, while painting course is qualified for this outlet.

To begin with, painting and drawings may cultivate students' creativity. Compared with the core courses, such as maths or chemistry, there is no rule or restriction to confine the students. That means, one can make full advantage of his imagination to draw a world with different combinations of colors and shapes. Thus, this course is of great use to foster the youth's imagination and innovation.

Besides, the painting course also serves as an escape from the unbearable pressure for students. They may have a chance to do something different from preparing for exams or being bothered by the due date. It is a chance to refresh themselves. Then when they come back to the routine life, they are expected to be more sharp and alert.
